One Piece – The Comic Book Series That Set The Guinness World Record

Eiichiro Oda is the author and illustrator of the Japanese manga series One Piece (stylized in all caps). Since July 1997, it has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump, and as of November 2022, its individual chapters have been collected into 104 tankōbon volumes.

The plot centers on the exploits of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose unintended consumption of a Devil Fruit left him with a body made of rubber. In order to succeed Gol D. Roger as the new King of the Pirates, Luffy explores the Grand Line with his pirate band, the Straw Hat Pirates, in search of the ultimate treasure known as the “One Piece.”

After being converted into a festival film by Production I.G and an anime series by Toei Animation, which debuted in 1999, the manga gave rise to a media brand. In addition, Toei has produced 13 television specials, 1 original video animation, and 14 animated feature features. Numerous businesses have created various forms of media and marketing, including a trading card game and numerous video games. One Piece broke the record for “the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author” twice, in 2015 and 2022.

It was the best-selling manga for eleven years in a row, from 2008 to 2018, and it is the only manga to have attained more than 1 million copies sold throughout all of its more than 100 released tankōbon volumes. The original print of its volumes was above 3 million for more than ten years. Since the start of the weekly comic ranking in 2008, only One Piece’s volumes have been #1 every year.

Setting.

Humans as well as numerous other races, including dwarves, fishmen, and giants, live in the world of One Piece. The Grand Line, a sea that runs perpendicular to the Red Line, further separates it into four seas: North Blue, East Blue, West Blue, and South Blue. It is surrounded by two large oceans, which are divided by a massive mountain range known as the Red Line. Two areas known as Calm Belts, which resemble horse latitudes and are located around the Grand Line, are the breeding grounds for enormous sea animals known as sea kings.

Seawater from each of the four seas flows up that mountain, where it combines at the summit and then descends a fifth canal into the Grand Line’s first half, which is known as Paradise because of how it contrasts with the second half. Beyond the second Red Line/Grand Line crossing, the second half of the Grand Line is known as the New World.

Plot.

Monkey D. Luffy, a young man made of rubber who is the main character in the series, sets out from the East Blue Sea in search of the legendary treasure known as the One Piece in order to establish himself as the King of the Pirates. He is motivated by his childhood hero, the ruthless pirate Red-Haired Shanks. Luffy saves and befriends a pirate hunter and swordsman named Roronoa Zoro in an effort to form his own crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, and the two of them go out in pursuit of the titular treasure.

A money-obsessed thief and navigator named Nami, a sniper and compulsive liar named Usopp, and a chivalrous but amorous cook named Sanji accompany them on their voyage. They purchase the Going Merry and engage in combat with infamous East Blue pirates on board.

Later in the series, other characters join the crew as Luffy and his companions embark on their adventures, including Tony Tony Chopper, an anthropomorphized reindeer doctor; Nico Robin, an archaeologist and former assassin for the Baroque Works; Franky, a cyborg shipwright; Brook, a skeleton musician, and swordsman; and Jimbei, a fish-man helmsman and former member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

One Piece Film: Red – A Brand-new Amazing Movie.

A 2022 Japanese animated musical fantasy action-adventure film called One Piece Film: Red is directed by Gorō Taniguchi and made by Toei Animation. It is the fifteenth full-length installment in the One Piece film series, which is based on the manga series of the same name created by Eiichiro Oda and illustrated by him.

Following the airing of the episode, a teaser trailer and poster were also released on November 21, 2021, to celebrate the release of One Piece anime episode 1000. It was first revealed on November 21, 2021. Only three Japanese films have ever held the top spot in the box office rankings in Japan for eleven weeks in a row. With nearly $206.7 million in worldwide box office receipts, the movie is now the fifth-highest-grossing Japanese movie of all time.

One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak!, an OVA that Gor Taniguchi directed in 1998, was created by Production I.G. Released prior to the airing of the anime series, it was the first animated version of the One Piece manga and only had a small number of screenings in Japanese theaters. Taniguchi was “the first person to ever animate Luffy,” according to Oda. Taniguchi stated that he would express a One Piece that had never been seen before in One Piece Film: Red after the first announcement of the movie in November 2021.

One Piece Film: Red is the One Piece movie that Eiichiro Oda worked on the most actively, claims Shinji Shimizu, a producer of the One Piece anime at Toei Animation. The movie’s executive producer, character designer, and script critic are Oda. He added that the movie would differ from the previous One Piece movies in that it will mostly feature 2D animation. Still, some parts will also have 3D computer-generated imagery to heighten the impact.

Over the course of more than two years, Oda, Taniguchi, and Tsutomu Kuroiwa worked on the movie’s writing. Oda declared the final script to be “fantastic” after finishing. The screenwriter, Tsutomu Kuroiwa, promised that One Piece Film: Red would be a fantastic film that will touch many people’s emotions.
