Rapper and musician Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio, better known by his stage name Bad Bunny, was born in Puerto Rico on March 10, 1994. His music is classified as reggaeton and Latin trap. His song “Diles” propelled him to fame in 2016 and landed him a deal with Hear This Music. Over the following few years, he continued to acquire popularity with songs like “Soy Peor” and his collaborations with Farruko, Karol G, Ozuna, J Balvin, and others.

With his appearances on Cardi B’s number-one song “I Like It” with J Balvin and his top-ten hit “Mia” with Drake, he made a significant breakthrough in 2018. In December 2018, Rimas Entertainment released his debut album, X 100pre, which peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard 200.

Bad Bunny’s Early Life.

Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio was born on March 10, 1994, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico’s Almirante Sur neighborhood. His mother, Lysaurie Ocasio, is a retired teacher, and his father, Tito Martnez, was a truck driver. Ballads, merengue, and salsa were among her favorite musical genres. Bernie and Bysael are his younger brothers. He stated, “I wasn’t the kid who got involved in the streets. I liked to be at home with my family.”

He was raised by a devoted Catholic mother who took him to church every Sunday and sung in the church choir until he was thirteen years old. He became interested in the musicians he heard on the radio after leaving the choir, especially Daddy Yankee and Héctor Lavoe. His stage name originated from a period when he was unhappy over being had to wear a rabbit costume and was compelled to wear one.

Speaking about the Puerto Rican music industry, he stated, “I’m from Vega Baja, a small area that’s not a metropolis like San Juan where the majority of the genre’s artists have come from.”

Bad Bunny’s Career.

2013–2017: Beginnings.

At the age of 14, he began to compose and produce his own interpretations. In 2013, he started to distribute his songs through SoundCloud, including “Get” in 2013, “Tentación” in 2014, and “Just let me know” in 2015. DJ Luian from SoundCloud heard his song “Diles” in 2016 and signed him to his record label, Hear this Music.

2018–2019: X 100pre, And Oasis.

Cardi B, an American rapper, collaborated with Bad Bunny and J Balvin on the song “I Like It” in May 2018. Bad Bunny and Drake’s song “Mia” was released on October 11 and peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100.

On December 24, 2018, Christmas Eve, Bad Bunny released his debut album X 100pre via Rimas Entertainment. X 100pre has an overall Metacritic score of 84 based on five reviews. The “off-kilter creativity” of Bad Bunny was commended by Alexis Petridis of The Guardian.

In Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time poll in 2020, X 100pre received a 447th place vote.

Oasis, a joint album by Bad Bunny and J Balvin that contains eight songs, was released on June 28, 2019. 2020–2021: YHLQMDLG, Las que no iban a salir, and El Último Tour del Mundo.

At the Super Bowl LIV halftime show, which featured Shakira and Jennifer Lopez as the headliners in February 2020, Bad Bunny was a special guest performer. On February 27, 2020, Bad Bunny made the announcement that the album YHLQMDLG would be released on Leap Day during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The release day was February 29, 2020. Yo Hago Lo Que Me Da La Gana, the album’s title in Spanish, means “I Do What I Want,” and it includes joint efforts with Daddy Yankee, Yaviah, Jowell & Randy, and Engo Flow, among other artists.

On April 4, 2020, he published the SoundCloud song “En Casita,” which contained vocals from his girlfriend Gabriela Berlingeri and expressed solidarity with other people who were quarantined because of COVID-19.
