Stranger Things is an American science fiction horror drama television series created by the Duffer Brothers and streaming on Netflix. The first season of the series was released on Netflix on July 15, 2016, with the second, third, and fourth seasons following in October 2017, July 2019, and May and July 2022, respectively. The series was renewed for a fifth and final season in February 2022.
Eleven’s powers
Eleven’s powers are a very interesting topic. The way they were discovered, the way she uses them and the reason why she is different from other characters in the series are all very interesting questions that need to be addressed.
Eleven’s powers have been mentioned throughout the whole series. Her first appearance was at Hawkins Lab, where they were studying her telekinetic abilities. They wanted to know what caused these powers and how they could use them for their own purposes. After some time, Eleven was able to escape from her cell and leave with Mike Wheeler’s help; however, we still don’t know much about this mysterious girl or her background story which might be revealed in season 4 of Stranger Things (we can only hope so).
The experiments at the Hawkins Lab
When Eleven is being experimented on in the lab, we learn that the experiments are not for her benefit. They are all about control and power, money, science, and the government. The scientists want to find out how each of their powers works so they can control them. But instead of using that knowledge for good, their goal is to use it to gain power over others.
They also experiment on other people (like Will) because they’re curious about how their bodies work when they have strange abilities or are exposed to otherworldly powers like Eleven’s ability to harness electricity with her mind.
Powers are not everything…
In the end, what is more, important than powers? In a sense, they are just things that make us feel good. They can be fun and give us a feeling of power. But really, we need more than that. We need to feel human in our lives; we need love; we need a home; we need friends; etc. The list goes on and on but you get it. Powers might help you forget about some problems for a little while but those problems will always come back around again eventually (just like Eleven’s memory).
The point is this: don’t let yourself get caught up in thinking that powers will solve all your problems or make everything better because ultimately they won’t! You may think I am contradicting myself here because I said earlier how great powers are but honestly I think it depends on what type of person you are and how much work/energy/effort etc has gone into achieving them (I know this isn’t really an answer but maybe it will help someone else who thinks like me).
