Wednesday Netflix Series This 2022 – Who’s Who

The newest live-action installment of The Addams Family series, titled Wednesday, will debut on Netflix on November 23, 2022. As the series’ director, Tim Burton was concerned that it would not be misconstrued for a remake or a reboot, but rather a spinoff that would center on a completely different period in Wednesday’s life as she matured.

Based on the original characters created by Charles Addams, the principal characters of the Addams Family are all well-known and adored. But unlike the Christina Ricci-played Wednesday we last saw, this Wednesday is a lot older. Since she has reached high school age, she will undoubtedly meet new people—both friends and enemies.

Morticia and Gomez decide to enroll Wednesday in The Nevermore Academy, where they first met and fell in love, after bouncing around from school to school as a result of numerous expulsions. She discovers a sinister truth that has been kept by her family for many centuries while adjusting to a new environment and managing new relationships. In the Netflix “Inside the Character” video, Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega describes the mystery as featuring “serial killers, murders, and creatures.”

It appears that she will require assistance in learning the truth, but who at her new school will turn out to be her ally? She might get support from an unexpected friendship.

Jenna Ortega As Wednesday Addams.

Jenna Ortega, a young scream queen, portrays the lead role. Ortega most recently appeared in the A24 horror flick X and the most recent Scream movie. She is setting out on an adventure in her newest high school, The Nevermore Academy, while donning the sparkling black shoes of Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday must deal with her latent psychic skills, a murderous monster, and worst of all, other people now that she is older and at the age where a girl only has one thing on her mind: murder. It’s only a matter of time before Wednesday makes a buddy because she is surrounded by “peers who will understand” her, as Morticia claims in the trailer.

Catherine Zeta-Jones As Morticia Addams.

Wednesday’s glitzy, gothic mother, Morticia, is played by Chicago’s Catherine Zeta-Jones. Compared to Gomez, who frequently gives their son, Pugsley, more attention, Morticia seems to have a closer bond with her daughter. However, despite this, they are both devoted parents who just want the best for their kid. Morticia has great recollections of her time at the academy, where she first met her husband Gomez and rose to the top of the strange school’s social order.

Luis Guzmán As Gomez Addams.

Luis Guzmán portrays Gomez, the patriarch of the Addams family. Gomez, who is madly in love with his wife Morticia, is a peculiar outcast in almost every depiction of the ghastly family. Guzmán has played a number of iconic parts throughout his 40+ year career, making him a well-known face to viewers of movies and television. Additionally, he frequently appears in the films of Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Soderbergh. His most recent appearance was in The Birthday Cake in 2021.

Isaac Ordonez As Pugsley Addams.

Isaac Ordonez portrays Wednesday’s younger brother, Pugsley. Pugsley’s character is only anticipated to appear in two of the eight episodes; therefore the series is unlikely to give him a significant part. In earlier iterations of The Addams Family, Pugsley and Wednesday mostly engage in lighthearted murderous attempts against one another. They have a more complex relationship on the show, with Wednesday being particularly protective of her young brother.

Emma Myers plays Enid Sinclair (Girl In The Basement). Will Wednesday consider Enid a “friend” or “frenemy”? Her character can be seen in the trailer asking Wednesday if she wants to “take a stab at being social,” to which Wednesday replies, “I like stabbing,” while flaunting blonde hair with vivid highlights.

She is Wednesday’s roommate, thus their lives are inevitably entwined for the length of their time in school, whether she follows Amanda Buckman’s path from Addams Family Values or surprises us with a darker side that Wednesday finds appealing. Enid is a werewolf who is still getting used to her furry feet, therefore she is slightly apart from the rest of her lupine community.

Joy Sunday As Bianca Barclay.

The actress Joy Sunday portrays the role of Bianca Barclay in Dear White People. She can be seen rolling her eyes in the teaser and then competing against Wednesday in a fencing match. Will she become friends with her or will they become rivals? This needs to be clarified once more. The fact that they are pictured sparring without the protective face masks suggests that the two have a more intense rivalry.

Bianca is a siren, which is not one of the species that is frequently portrayed in fantasy television programs but is relevant given that, prior to Wednesday, she serves as essentially the ruler of Nevermore. As a siren, Bianca has the power to make people do things just by speaking to them—a power that she might exercise against Wednesday. With suggestions of a love triangle involving Wednesday, Bianca, and Bianca’s ex-Xavier, the character is obviously being set up to be the main character’s adversary.

Hunter Doohan As Tyler Galpin.

Tyler makes a quick cameo in the trailer, running alongside Wednesday and seems to be on the prowl from someone (or something). Hunter Doohan, who portrayed Bryan Cranston’s son in the Showtime drama series Your Honor, portrays Tyler. Tyler is also the son of Sheriff Donovan Galpin, who is portrayed in the series by Jamie McShane (Bloodline), which will probably be useful.

Not that running alongside Wednesday automatically indicates they’ve partnered together, although it certainly seems that way in the trailer clip. Tyler, in contrast to most of the other characters, is a typical person who just so happens to reside in the same county as Nevermore, Jericho. Doohan says he’s also “quite the barista.”

Percy Hynes White As Xavier Thorpe.

Another of Wednesday’s new classmates at Nevermore Academy is Xavier Thorpe, played by The Gifted actor Percy Hynes White. He can be seen sitting next to her in the trailer as she squashes a huge black spider that had risen to life from a notebook. He can bring his drawings to life since he is a psychic artist.

We will have to wait to see if Wednesday will befriend Xavier or if he will try to bully her before receiving some difficult lessons from her, like the spider. Like Bianca, Xavier is one of the popular students at the academy and, as a result, has an arrogant attitude that Wednesday will undoubtedly dispel. There are clues that the two characters might develop a romance, but we’ll just have to wait and see how far that goes.

Victor Dorobantu As Thing.

Although Thing lacks a face to be associated with an actor, the new Wednesday series appears to feature him prominently. Thing always adds humorous moments to the movies, even without any spoken lines, and will undoubtedly do so in the series as well. Making spectators care about your character when all they have to go on is… a disembodied hand is not an easy challenge.

We’ll see if Victor Dorobantu, a magician, and actor from Romania, will be able to use his magic skills in this role. According to rumors, Tim Burton preferred utilizing an actor to play the Thing over CGI. “Because when you write a very emotional scene between Wednesday and a disembodied hand, you hope it is going to play on-screen,” co-creator Miles Millar has said. “It’s really a tribute to Jenna and Victor that you really get that connection and sense of deep friendship.”

Fred Armisen As Uncle Fester.

Laws don’t matter to Fester Addams, Gomez’s brother, and Wednesday’s adored uncle, who, based on how Netflix has characterized him, appears to be something of a bank robber in the series. Fester is a masterful practitioner of the black arts who is constantly on hand to assist Wednesday despite his strange, unusual character.

There have been other performers who have played this iconic Addams Family member in the past, but Christopher Lloyd’s portrayal of the role in the 1991 movie deserves special note. In Wednesday, renowned comedic actor Fred Armisen plays the part.

Lurch As George Burcea.

The Addams Family has an honorary member named Lurch who is recognized for his Frankenstein-like appearance. He acts as the butler and chauffeur for the family and communicates primarily through comic grunts. Lurch, portrayed by George Burcea, will appear in three episodes (Comrade Detective). Burcea is also a well-known theatrical and cinema actor in Romania, much like Victor Dorobantu, who will play Thing.
