Friday The 13th is one of the most popular horror movie series in history. Since its release in 1980, people have been obsessed over Jason Voorhees and this movie as well. Friday the 13th(blog) is one of the most widely recognized horror franchises in history. Although there are three sequels to the first film, none of them quite reached the heights of its predecessor. Crystal Lake Jason became synonymous with terror and lost bodies as Jason Voorhees stalked his way through the wood-sheltered town, murdering every teenager unlucky enough to cross his path. The original film was responsible for setting a series within the camp genre but has remained as popular as ever thanks to its well-chosen cast and memorable kills.

Have you ever heard of a movie called Friday the 13th? If not, then I’m pretty sure you should just go and watch it right now. Friday the 13th is one of my favorite horror movies that I’ve watched and Jason Voorhees is one of my current favorite movie characters. He’s super creepy, and what’s even more cool about him is that he’s a lot like Jason with his hockey mask and his machete (which he uses for hunting as well). He causes some serious havoc for camp counselors when they are at Crystal Lake. Despite all the sequels, remakes and rip-offs that have been brought forth in the past few decades, there is still something about the original story of “Friday the 13th” that continues to capture our hearts. The 1980 film was not only one of the first horror movies being presented by a major studio (Warner Bros.) but also one of its first slasher flicks in general. It’s also strikingly interesting for several reasons: 1) it was shot on a budget $300K that many people would expect today to be gone with no trace but still alive on VHS; 2) It wasn’t shot by famed director Wes Craven but instead by franchise writer Victor Miller; 3) The killer Jason Voorhees isn’t at all scary in this iteration…wait, did I just say that?

Every once in a while, a movie comes along that changes the way people look at their own lives. Most of these movies have been based on real-life stories, which makes them all the more horrifying. If you grew up watching these movies, then you probably remember them very vividly. However, this is not always the case as some humans need to see an imaginary world firsthand before they actually understand it. For example, my grandfather fell in love with this movie when he was younger and I think it’s fair to say that he doesn’t enjoy horror movies anymore now that his mind is skewed from seeing something so gruesomely realistic.

You know that feeling when you’re watching a scary movie and it’s not scary at all? That’s me every time I watch Friday The 13th. Every time I watch it, I always remember my brother’s friend who used to make us watch that movie. Why? Because he said it was the most intense horror movie he had ever seen. When I watched it after him, I had the same experience he did and found the movie to be absolutely terrifying. The story focuses on a group of teens who go to Crystal Lake in search of a missing girl, but what they found there was something even worse than they imagined!

It’s an awesomely scary movie that everyone should see when they’re alone or with a group of friends. Halloween is a wonderful time of year. It’s full of excitement, entertainment and fun. In my opinion, Jason went above and beyond when it comes to creativity when making his movie.
